When I get dressed in the morning, I aim to represent my mood and the part of my personality that is prominent in the moment. Whether I’m feeling like a feisty Vegas show girl or a preppy, proper university student, I want to express myself without looking dull or boring. Sometimes, all I need is a little extra something.
Now, in my case, a “little extra something” usually comes in the form of glitter or sequins. However, I am careful not to limit myself to that because there are so many other great options when it comes to spicing up an outfit! (Plus, wearing glitter liquid eyeliner on a day-to-day can get overwhelming if worn too often. However, there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a “Vegas day” in the middle of the week. I love wearing my glitter eyeliner on a Wednesday afternoon. I’m shameless.) Just remember: like in most cases when it comes to fashion, moderation is KEY!
As Elsa Schiaparelli once said, “In difficult times, fashion is always outrageous.” I think we should get on that train and be outrageous- all the time.
Doc Martens, available in a plethora of colors- $115. Wearing these with a casual outfit feels like a fun act of rebellion. I just picked up a pair of gray boots at Walmart that are inspired by Doc Martens. They look just like these and they were only $12. Check them out in stores…they have a few color options!

For a little sparkle, I turn to Urban Decay eye makeup. The Heavy Metal Glitter Liner adds a glamorous rocker touch and comes in 11 fun colors. (If you don’t want to shell out $18, Sephora makes a slightly cheaper version.) If heavy duty glitter isn’t your thing, Urban Decay Eye Shadow offers tons of fantastic colors to play with, as well as some sparkly options. (My favorite is Midnight Cowboy Rides Again.)
I’m going to be real with you guys. There is nothing I love more than sequins. I think that nothing adds sparkle to an outfit like sequins. At H&M, they have sequined jackets, skirts, dresses, shirts, and more. (I may or may not have tried on all of it.) I’m also in a constant state of trying on sequin leggings, but I have yet to commit. These are definitely on my “to buy” list! Check out this budget-friendly pair at Forever 21 or if you’d like something a little more luxe, try ABS by Allen Schwartz.
I love any skirt (and any clothing item) that walks the line between being fashionably outrageous and being over the top. I want this Metallic Jacquard Mini Skirt from Urban Outfitters and this ruffle tutu skirt from Wet Seal.

Blair Waldorf of “Gossip Girl” has redefined what it means to accessorize. From her classy berets to her preppy headbands, Blair is always polished, pretty, and a little outrageous, even within her prim and proper style. I bought this sequin beret from Forever 21 a few months ago and I’m obsessed with it. My wonderful roommate has it in rainbow, which is useful when we want to hang it from the ceiling as a makeshift disco ball. I also love this leather bow headband, also from Forever 21. It’s prim and rebellious, all rolled into one.

Party Purses! 1. Forever 21: $18.80 2. Forever 21: $19.80 3. J.Crew: $49.50 Coach “special occasion” bags: 4. Poppy Feather Crossbody: $298 5. Poppy Sparkle Mini: $138
Jewelry and watches are a great way to add a little pizazz to your outfit. I love this watch from Urban Outfitters, which comes in blue and pink. I would also suggest prowling for statement necklaces and cocktail rings. You can find them in almost every store these days and Forever 21 is great for cheap jewelry, but don’t expect it to last long!

Nothing makes me more excited for fall/winter than the fact that I get to wear tights with my dresses/skirts. While some might say it’s inappropriate to wear colored tights past the age of seven, I think it’s perfectly acceptable! If it’s cold outside and you’re feeling large due to multiple layers, you might as well have a free-for-all and invest in some brightly colored tights. These tights from Aerie are on clearance and come in blue, yellow, and red, which are all fantastic options. I own the blue ones and I plan on purchasing the yellow and red soon. The tights on the right are a sexy, fun option that I found while prowling the internetz. They are lacy, black, and thigh high! Waddup! They also come in plain black for those who are feeling a little less risque.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, dear friends. Until next time…
